Agricultural land in Bulgaria is classified in 10 categories according to the climate, relief characteristics, productivity of the soil, and its suitability for production of different sorts of vegetable products.

Legend:

  1. Agricultural lands – with productivity class 80 prom- I and II category
  2. Agricultural lands – with productivity class from 60 to 80 prom – III and IV category
  3. Agricultural lands – with productivity class from 40 to 60 prom- V and VI category
  4. Agricultural lands – with productivity class from 20 to 40 prom- VII and VIII category
  5. Agricultural lands – with productivity class from 0 to 20 prom- IX and X category
  6. Forest

The most fertile land is category I and the most barren category – X
